Hello

The quality, reliability and trustworthiness of information on climate change should be strengthened worldwide. This is the goal of the «Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change», which was signed by 22 countries at COP30. The countries thus recognise the threat posed by disinformation.

The scepticism about climate science findings is nothing new. What is new, however, is the extent of climate change denial. About a year ago, climate research came under increased scrutiny from the US government: institutions were attacked, research funding was cut and disinformation was spread through official channels.

What is the situation in Switzerland with regard to disinformation and political influence on research? We will explore this question during the Science Talk at Swiss Global Change Day on 15 April 2026. This event will be one of the highlights of a compelling programme focusing on the latest findings in climate science.

Speaking of highlights: in spring, we will publish the new «Brennpunkt Klima Schweiz». It summarizes the key findings on climate change for Switzerland in a compact form. With that, publication aims to contribute to a fact-based discourse on climate change.

On behalf of ProClim, I wish you a successful 2026, guided by fact-based information!

Swiss Global Change Day 2026

On 15 April 2026, climate scientists will gather for the 26th Swiss Global Change Day. The event offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from all over Switzerland. Four high-profile keynote speeches will provide insights into the latest developments in climate research, emphasizing the interdisciplinarity of the conference. The final schedule will be announced soon.

Another highlight will be the Science Talk, which will discuss the state of disinformation and political influence on research in Switzerland. In addition, the poster session offers young researchers a great chance to present their research. The best posters in various categories will be awarded a a travel grant worth CHF 1000.–. Energy Commission focuses on security of supply

How can Switzerland secure its energy supply in the long term, even in winter? And how can it continue to do so despite rising electricity demand? Next year, the Energy Commission of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences will be taking an in-depth look at security of supply in Switzerland. The Energy Commission provides decision-makers in politics and industry, as well as the general public, with well-founded information to foster an evidence-based and objective debate. Find out more

K3 Congress on climate communication 2027

Experts from science, journalism, local authorities and non-governmental organisations are calling for a change of course in communication on climate topics. The call for signatures was launched at the K3 Congress in Graz. In addition to 80 prominent initial signatories, around 1,060 people have already joined the initiative.

The guidelines set the direction for climate communication activities, which will be a major focus for ProClim in 2026. Preparations are also beginning for the next K3 Congress, which is expected to take place in Germany in 2027. What key issues should climate communication address? Send us your inputs!
