Hello The quality, reliability and trustworthiness of information on climate change should be strengthened worldwide. This is the goal of the «Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change», which was signed by 22 countries at COP30. The countries thus recognise the threat posed by disinformation. The scepticism about climate science findings is nothing new. What is new, however, is the extent of climate change denial. About a year ago, climate research came under increased scrutiny from the US government: institutions were attacked, research funding was cut and disinformation was spread through official channels. What is the situation in Switzerland with regard to disinformation and political influence on research? We will explore this question during the Science Talk at Swiss Global Change Day on 15 April 2026. This event will be one of the highlights of a compelling programme focusing on the latest findings in climate science. Speaking of highlights: in spring, we will publish the new «Brennpunkt Klima Schweiz». It summarizes the key findings on climate change for Switzerland in a compact form. With that, publication aims to contribute to a fact-based discourse on climate change. On behalf of ProClim, I wish you a successful 2026, guided by fact-based information! |
